Week 5, Part 2: Oh Boy!

Theatre in the Park

The four contestants in this year’s Cass County Fair Queen Pageant wait in the hallway of Pleasant Hill high school for the judges to finish thier overall remarks and placement, Monday. While they waited, Alycia Yount, left, was stunned by her “unfair” question and fell to the ground in frustration, while Katherine Herrell and Megan Hale caught up with last year’s crowned queen, Candi Spencer. Due to the recent death of her grandfather, Samantha Lowry, right, was unable to present her chosen talent (reading an emotional poem dedicated to her grandfather), nor come up with an answer during the speech portion. Lowry was disqualified from recieving any award. Herrell, dressed in her light blue evening gown, went on to win the title of this year’s Cass County Fair Queen Pageant, and take home a check for $500. While Yount, who was named the 2005 Missouri Teen, finished first runner-up.

“Red” Baron Taylor stopped at the Johnson County Executive Airport to promote and demonstrate the sport of powered parchuting. Taylor is making his way across the country promoting the sport as a cheap way to do search and rescue in communities that can’t afford helicopters. Taylor makes final adjustments prior to take off.
